Märchen : die Wölfe : manuscript, 1950.

Copy made by Gertrude Frenzel-Koehler, in a calligraphic hand, of Ernst Wiechert's fairy tale entitled Die Wölfe. The title given on the title page, Märchen (f. 2r),could be understood in the singular as fairy tale, or it might be read as the title of the collection in which this story was published, Märchen (Fairy tales). The title of the tale itself, Die Wölfe, appears as a caption title (f. 3r). The main body of the text is in blue ink,and initials of paragraphs are in red or gold; other initials are sometimes adorned with thread-like strokes of gold ink. Extending from the first initial upward and across the width of the page is a decorative design in red, blue and gold ink, with small red flowers embedded amidst a background of swirling tendrils. The title page is dated from Hellerau. The manuscript comprises 2 folio-size gatherings (of 4 and 2 bifolia, respectively) with continuous pagination.
